Why Can't we use all values for the reference objects fields ?

Hi All ,

In most of the places  where we use the  Reference object (OSSET-REFERENCE objects) like Service order, Service confirmation.Service Contract object list AB, i have seen that we have only one option to fill the values in web UI. Any one of the field ->Install base or component or OBject or product ID. But not all together.

for example:

I know that Contracts and warranties are determined for each level and it is also appropriate to use it.

(I thought the this business case for all customer:))

But in my business case,they wanted to see all fields of reference object inlcuding Serial and Manufacturer serial no.We went to custom fields to populate the relevant fields in reference objects.

I have seen code in SAP FM itself to prevent use only one field.A error in standard due this scenario.(follow the link)

Error  'Delete serial number XXXXXXX from installed base comp YYYY'

Since i am not gone through service process fully! I doubt this point.

Is it the correct behaviour to use only one relationship but not all together?..
